Acne Cortisone Injection
Intralesional Steroid Injection (Acne Inflammation Injection)
A treatment that injects triamcinolone (a steroid) directly into an inflamed acne lesion to calm the inflammation quickly.
What is it?
A steroid (triamcinolone) is injected into the lesion in the dermis, where its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive action quickly calms nodular and cystic acne.
Who it's for
Large, firm, painful nodular or cystic acne. Swelling, redness and pain noticeably decrease within 1–2 days after the injection.
At Datena
- Contains a small amount of steroid, so frequent injections are not recommended. Works in 1–2 days (3–4 days for severe cases).
- Unlimited injection option (3–6 session / 10 session programs)
Before treatment
Best within 1 week of a breakout appearing; after 1 week, we recommend Vbeam instead
After treatment
Don't touch the area
Good to know
- Temporary dimpling (usually resolves naturally within 1–3 months)
- Getting injections too often can cause steroid-related side effects such as skin thinning, pigmentation and visible blood vessels.
