Acne-Focused Scaling
Acne Scaling (Salicylic Acid Peel + Extraction)
A foundational acne treatment that uses peeling agents such as salicylic acid (BHA) to dissolve dead skin and oil inside the pores, then clears comedones (small bumps and blackheads) by extraction.
Who it's for
- Comedonal acne (small bumps, blackheads, whiteheads)
- Excess oil, clogged pores, bumpy skin texture
- Supporting treatment for inflammatory acne (helps keep inflammation from progressing)
- Prep step before acne treatments such as Gold PTT
At Datena
If an extraction site becomes inflamed, come in for an anti-inflammatory injection
Before treatment
- Let us know if you use retinoids (retinol, isotretinoin, etc.) — the peel strength needs to be adjusted
- Treatment is postponed if there is herpes, severe inflammation or a wound in the treatment area
- Let us know about any recent heavy peels or laser treatments
After treatment
- Skin may feel dry, so moisturize; avoid saunas and public bathhouses for 3 days; wear sunscreen
- Wash your face gently on the day; pause scrubs and peeling products at home for a few days
- Sunscreen is a must; go easy on saunas and alcohol
- Don't touch extraction sites with your hands
- Focus on moisturizing; let any scabs fall off on their own
Good to know
- Redness, stinging or tightness right after treatment: usually improves within a few hours to a few days
- Red marks or tiny scabs at extraction sites: heal within a few days
- Temporary flaking and dryness
- Rarely, pigmentation (if sun protection is inadequate)
