Botox
Botulinum toxin injection (Botox) — wrinkle / masseter / body
Botulinum toxin injections that calm overactive muscles to soften expression lines (between the brows, forehead, around the eyes), slim a square jaw (masseter), and refine body contours (trapezius, calves, etc.).
What is it?
Botulinum toxin blocks the release of acetylcholine at nerve endings, temporarily weakening muscle contraction. Injected into facial expression muscles, it smooths wrinkles caused by repeated movement; injected into enlarged muscles like the masseter or trapezius, it reduces their use so their volume gradually shrinks. Results appear over 3–14 days and gradually wear off over several months as nerve function recovers.
Who it's for
- Wrinkles: expression lines between the brows, on the forehead and around the eyes
- Square jaw: a lower face that looks wide due to enlarged masseter muscles
- Body: trapezius (shoulder line) and calf muscle contours
At Datena
- Korean-made toxin is recommended for first-timers; imported brands if you plan to keep it up regularly
- For calves, watch for weakness when going down stairs and compensatory muscle growth; come back for a touch-up after 3 months
Before treatment
- Check for pregnancy or breastfeeding (contraindicated)
- Check for history of neuromuscular disease (e.g., myasthenia gravis)
- Check current medications, such as aminoglycoside antibiotics
- Advise avoiding alcohol before and after treatment
After treatment
- Avoid intense exercise, alcohol and smoking for 1–2 days
- Don't lie down for about 4 hours after treatment, and don't rub the treated area
- Skip saunas, jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouses), intense workouts and alcohol on the day of treatment
- Square jaw: avoid chewy or hard foods for 1–2 weeks
Good to know
- Bruising, swelling and pain at the injection site
- Headache, temporary feeling of something foreign
- Asymmetry, or unintended weakening of nearby muscles (e.g., drooping eyelids or brows)
- Square jaw: temporary weakening of chewing strength; hollowing of the cheeks (with high doses or repeated treatments)
- Rarely, antibodies may form after repeated treatments, reducing the effect
Pairs well with
Can be combined with skin Botox or fillers on the same day (general guidance)
"Wrinkles and lines caused by muscles, solved at the muscle" "Results usually appear gradually over 3 days to 2 weeks" "Wrinkles last 3–4 months; square-jaw results last longer" "Regular treatments tend to make results easier to maintain"
Results and recovery time vary depending on your skin. Pricing and the exact number of sessions will be explained during your consultation after diagnosis. Written based on in-clinic materials as of October 2026.
