Subcision

Subcision

A procedure that uses a special needle to cut the fibrous bands under the dermis that pull scars down, lifting the scar up.

Time neededIncluded in the Skin Therapy Program (Salgyeol Therapy)
Anesthesia & PainNumbing cream. The needle cuts the fibers under the scar while a filler/booster (Juvelook Volume, Cell-DM, etc.) is injected at the same time
DowntimeBruising and minor bleeding for a few days (within the overall 1-week redness of the Skin Therapy Program)
SessionsNot a standalone treatment — one step in every Skin Therapy Program session (for wide scars: rolling and large boxcar). Number of sessions follows the Skin Therapy Program
IntervalSame interval as the Skin Therapy Program
MaintenanceReleasing the adhesions is itself semi-permanent (best results when combined with other treatments) (general guideline, pending doctor's confirmation)

What is it?

A special needle such as NOKOR is inserted at the boundary between the dermis and subcutaneous fat to cut the fibrous tissue (tethering adhesions) pulling the scar down. This creates physical space for the scar base to rise, and the micro-injury from the procedure triggers natural healing (new collagen and granulation tissue).

Who it's for

Rolling (tethered) scars and deeply pulled-down scars.
